Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.

As many of you know, this fall our oldest son Samuel began his first semester in the Corp of Cadets at Virginia Tech. Virginia Polytechnic Institute is one of only two major public universities to host a senior military college as part of a larger civilian university. Lord willing if he’s able to reach the end, he will graduate with a college degree as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corp. It is an incredibly challenging program. This past August he began a four-year program with 45 other NROTC freshmen and now just 16 remain.
He was counting down the days until Thanksgiving break. Lisa and I have greatly missed him tremendously but no more than his youngest siblings. They followed our car on an app from Virginia to South Carolina to know exactly how many miles until we arrived home. As you can see by the video (click here), they were waiting in the driveway to meet him.
Somehow, I believe this is what it will be like when we are reunited with those who are waiting for us one day when we reach our future and heavenly home. The Apostle Paul was right when he wrote: Three things will last forever -faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.
