Ministering to Me

Most weekends I stand before many hundreds of people to deliver what others regularly attest to be a well-crafted, God-honoring sermon designed to make the Scriptures come to life for those in search of life.

Passion 2023

Last week, we packed the Cross bus full of high school seniors and college students and departed for Atlanta for the Passion Conference. We joined 40,000 other young people to be a part of a growing movement that is impacting the Church on our shores and beyond.

Advent Women

Reading in Luke this Advent season, I find myself being struck by the women we see as pivotal to the First Advent of Christ. There are three women who tell the story of Messiah - Elizabeth, Mary and Anna. It is remarkable how they are used by God in such unique ways to herald, carry and proclaim the message that changed the world.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

It has quietly come and gone again this year.  Like the ebb and flow of the tidal shroud embracing the USS Arizona, “the date that will live in infamy” is inexorably becoming a date that lives only in the memories of a diminishing few.  My father was there on December 7, 1941; as a young naval officer aboard the USS Tangier, he was among those who exchanged fire with the Japanese planes wreaking havoc on Pearl Harbor . . . but unlike many aboard his ship, he survived that Sunday morning’s violence to fight on, pursuing peace in the Pacific throughout World War II and the Korean War.

The Greatest Children’s Story of All Time

What began in September will conclude this coming Wednesday at 7pm at The Chapel. A series on C.S. Lewis’ Life, work, and his profound impact on so many millions of people. In my estimation, his greatest work was two-fold, not only is he remembered for being one of the greatest defenders of the Faith in the history of Christendom but he is also one of the greatest children’s writers of all time!

Making Eternal Investments

Each day we have countless opportunities to make eternal investments in the lives of the children at Cross Schools. It is important to realize that every investment counts. We don’t always see the fruit of our labors, but this week we had one of those beautiful moments where we pause and say “Wow! Thank you God!”

Reframed Disappointment

You may have heard about NASAs latest attempts to launch the Artemis 1 SLS (Space Launch System) rocket. When it occurs, this will be an unmanned test launch that is part of the Artemis program to return Astronauts to the moon by 2025. When I made my reservation to be at Kennedy Space Center for the launch, I did not realize it was for NASA’s most powerful rocket ever and would draw huge crowds!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
