Every year one of The Church of the Cross’ shining moments is watching dozens of congregants wade down to the May River to be baptized. Many others join them as they recommit their lives to Jesus Christ.

Recently in my message titled “The Swan is Not Silent”, I referenced the ancient hymn “Be Still, My Soul.” Its lyrics are poetical, theological, and deeply moving. God’s purposes in sometimes allowing the unthinkable are largely shrouded in mystery and can at times appear senseless.

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. - 1 Peter 2:12
