I am originally from West Virginia, where I recently concluded serving as a United Methodist pastor for three years. Lauren hails from Georgia (Go ‘Dawgs!) and is happy to be moving back south to the land of mild winters. We met at Asbury Seminary where we both earned our Masters of Divinity, and were married in August 2017. Lauren is now pursuing a Master of Mental Health Counseling, and plans on starting a counseling practice after graduation. We welcomed our sweet son Ezra in May of 2020.
We are slowly settling into our new home in Bluffton Park. This is the first time Lauren and I have owned a home. The first week has consisted of finding plenty of small things that need repaired– a leaky water supply line, cracked light switch cover, a broken blind, etc. I think I may have spent more time in Home Depot or Lowes than in my own home this week!
As I do this slow work of repair, it reminds me of God’s loving work within us. No renovation project is too daunting for the work of sanctification within our lives. The longer God abides within us, the deeper into our hearts He probes, calling us to surrender those broken pieces of our lives to His healing work. We are like clay in the hands of a loving potter.
We look forward to life and ministry with you all as we continue this journey of becoming more like Christ.
Blessings,
Pastor Nathan
Get Involved with Our Ministries
One of the most important ways to get connected at The Church of the Cross is to first become a member of our congregation. If you are not a member and you are interested in learning more about membership, please call the Parish Office (843.757.2661) and speak to Sue.
Membership begins with an informal meeting with clergy. The next step in getting connected would be joining a Bible Study or small group to be in community with other Believers.
