From Valleys to Moutaintops

By |2021-04-15T14:05:10-04:00April 1st, 2021|Life at the Cross|
As the title suggests, this year we have all experienced mountaintops and valleys. I am reminded that the same God who created all things is the same God who sits on top of the mountain while also walking with us through the valley. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me.
Occasionally, we get a chance to see how we move between both – just like Good Friday and Easter Sunday. In August, I lost my father to Covid, but with social distancing it also presented a gift that we could have never foreseen. In this season of isolation, my older children taught their younger siblings how to play chess. Our eleven and six year old boys picked it up very quickly.
This week with special consent from the South Carolina Independent School Association our kindergarten son, Fielding, received permission to play in the Elementary School Chess Tournament. He stunned everybody by going undefeated and taking first place with his proud older brother taking fourth. It was a sight to see and a reminder that what may now look like a curse on the front end could very well down the road lead to blessings. Good Friday is the greatest example. What they thought was a curse led to the greatest act of redemption in world history. I’ll see you Sunday!
Continue to glorify God and enjoy Him for forever!
