For those of us women who have been around for a while, we probably all remember color charts. In the early 1980s, they were all the rage. Just like ladies went to Tupperware parties, we went to parties for a color analysis. An “expert” would analyze each of us according to our skin complexion, eye color, and hair color. She would then determine if we were a Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter, and we would receive a corresponding chart of colors that were “perfect” for us to wear to enhance our healthy and vibrant look. Supposedly the colors on this chart would also be our favorite colors.
I attended several of these parties and was “diagnosed” as a different season each time… Spring, Summer, or Autumn…depending on whether I had no tan, a little tan, or a darker tan. The amazing thing to me is that my favorite colors have always been associated with Winter: teal, emerald green, royal blue, hot pink. However, I have never been categorized as a Winter to my great sadness! Just so you know, I wear Winter colors often because I like them, whether I am a Winter or not!

Lately, I have thought about colors often, especially red and white. The words to a Chris Tomlin song keep running through my head:

“Where Your love ran red
And my sin washed white”
Chris Tomlin, At the Cross (Love Ran Red)

God came to earth as a man named Jesus who died an agonizing death and rose from the dead in order to redeem us. He was beaten, humiliated, and nailed to the cross on Calvary. He carried the burden of all our sins, even suffering temporary separation from His Father. As His blood dripped on the ground, as His breath was leaving Him, He still loved us so much…and now, nothing can separate us from His love.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 38-39 ESV)
Sisters, His red blood made us white, and that is a color all of us look good in!
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7 ESV)
