As I sit in my office this week, the students around me are having their knowledge tested. This is the most dreaded week of the year. As I welcomed students to school on Monday they said, “I don’t want to be here today.” These nationally normed tests will measure their knowledge of all the core subjects.
This has me reflecting on our relationship with Christ. It’s possible to have endless knowledge of Scripture and theology without having saving faith in Jesus. Faith is not primarily knowing about God. Faith requires that we have a relationship with God – that we go beyond knowing about to actually knowing God. Our relationship with Christ cannot be measured with a test, but is something we experience.
My prayer this week is that our students at Cross Schools gain more than a head knowledge about God … that they go on to a heart knowledge that transforms their lives as they come to saving faith in Jesus. I invite you to join me in praying for our students and this important ministry of The Church of the Cross.
