It’s another beautiful day in the Lowcountry! From my office window I see: a cardinal perched on the nearby soccer goal; preschoolers romping on a playground; and the hint of soon-to-bud leaves on a hickory . . . coupled with clear blue skies, seventy degrees and the now-folded cardigan on my credenza, the signs of spring’s emergence are undeniable – praise God!
Also, from my office window I see a small group of men huddled with Pete Laugen, Head of Cross Schools. No doubt, they are discussing various issues in preparation for tomorrow’s groundbreaking event and Saturday’s commencement of construction (completion expected in mid-September) on a three-story addition to Cross Schools. This new facility will provide needed spaces for: (i) athletic training facilities; (ii) sports related storage; (iii) boy’s/girl’s locker rooms; (iv) athletic trainer’s office; (v) conference room and adjacent administration office (high school counselor); (vi) teachers’ work room; (vii) athletic director’s office; (viii) a double-size art room; (ix) two classrooms on the 2nd floor; (x) a double-size music/drama room; (xi) four additional classrooms on the 3rd floor; plus (xii) elevator, staircases, lobby/entrance, multiple restrooms, additional storage, outdoor seating and gathering spaces. Designed to enhance the high school experiences for upper school students, this state-of-the-art building will surely do so – praise God!
