God is our refuge and strength,
    always ready to help in times of trouble.
 So we will not fear when earthquakes come
    and the mountains crumble into the sea.
 Let the oceans roar and foam.
    Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.        Psalm 46:1-3

In 2004 while living in Melbourne Florida, our family lost our house in Hurricane Frances. You feel helpless when a Hurricane is bearing down on you and you have control of virtually nothing. Thirteen years later, I have learned that storms are indicative of life. Before Frances, everything seemed secure, appeared stable. What I now know, what appears foundational is often not. The physical storms are just metaphors for the insecurity of life. Let me tell you what we CAN depend on. No matter what comes our way, Jesus Christ is in it, He is the Lord of the storm. Our lives and security are in His hands as they have always been. Jesus says; “Surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”                                     Deuteronomy 31:6
