I Will Rise
But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed...those who have died will be raised to live forever..."Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" Thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15

This past Saturday at Saint James Church on James Island over 1000 people celebrated the life of The Rev. Martha Horne. Martha died December 28, due to complications from cardiac arrest after a long battle with cancer. She's had a profound impact on tens of thousands, Marthamany from our own Congregation. Personally, I will always remember her unbounded optimism in all things and her deep love for Jesus Christ. Even when her health was failing you never-ever saw her without a smile, and her trust that her life was always in Christ's hands. Her funeral was a glorious celebration and incredibly moving. As I sat with my 14 year old son Will, I felt a deep sadness. We lost a huge soul that had given so much to make this world a better place. However, the scriptures teach us, "We do not grieve like people who have no hope". Because of Christ there is no "Goodbye", but rather "I'll see you tomorrow". Friends who love Christ never see each other for the last time. It's precisely because of Him that at the end of our days we will find ourselves on the right side of History! It's ok to weep, but in our tears know that Jesus Christ will one day reunite us all. Martha had planned the song "I Will Rise" to sing at her funeral, a reminder to each one of of us that it's going to be okay.

"Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise....I will rise"

Glorify God & Enjoy Him Forever!
