I Like to Win!
I was playing the game “Bounce Off!” with Noelle earlier this week. After beating me the first two games she said, “Dad, you like to win, don’t you?” And I responded, “Well, Noelle, I definitely do!”
I am speaking to men now, so I’ll ask the question, “what does it mean to win as a Christian man in the twenty-first century?” I think we all know how to win when we compete or when we are at work, but do we know how to win as men of God?
We live in an age when manhood is being challenged from all sides. For better or worse, the notion of what a man is and what a man is not is no longer clear. Certainly, the recent scandals in Hollywood indicate many men have no idea what it means to be a good man.
Men we all need encouragement, we all need a band of brothers to walk with us in life, to cheer us on, to let us know when we are doing good and to challenge us when we are not.
Let me invite you to come and join a group of good men at TOTC this weekend at our “in town” retreat. We will be having a Low Country Boil at the “God’s Goods/Mission Mall” this Friday night October 20th at 6:00 p.m. Around 7:00 p.m. we will have a special guest speaker Col. Jim Harper III (ret) speak to us about what it means to be a man in our current crisis of manhood. Jim will also be our speaker at our Men’s Breakfast on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. There is no cost for this event. Just show up, eat and rub shoulders with others, like you, who are wanting to up their game.
If you want to win, you need a game plan. Col. Harper has a game plan for us. Come get in the game this weekend, you’ll be glad you did.
