The Lord giveth, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
(Job 1:21)

jonathan167The hardest thing as Christians is living in these two realities. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Presently, I find myself as a Minister, a Husband, a Father living in both worlds.

The Lord giveth: Lisa is three months pregnant, a baby boy due in June. We feel incredibly excited, our hope is that people share in our excitement. Our prayers have always been that our home is happy and a blessing to everyone. It's always busy but the Lord has blessed us in a way that is beyond anything we could have possibly imagined. When Lisa was very young she was diagnosed with a kidney condition that Doctors later told her father might prevent her from having children. I guess they were wrong. The Lord giveth, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

The Lord hath taken away: In one of my more difficult weeks in recent memory we said goodbye to someone in our church family who was taken from us far too soon. Even as I write this, there are tears in my eyes. With all my theology, and all my experience in ministry it seems incredibly unfair. Sometime there are no words, sadness too deep for tears. As Job once said about God, "Even though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him." Where else is there to go, there is no safer place than to be nearer to Him. We can still love God completely without complete understanding.
The Lord giveth, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

Glorify God and Enjoy Him Forever!
