A Thousand Thanks!
This year’s Operation Christmas Child was a terrific success! Our goal was for our parish to collect eight hundred boxes, but we exceeded our goal and ended up collecting a thousand shoeboxes full of hope for disadvantaged children around the world! It was wonderful to see so many from TCOTC participate in making a difference in the life of a child who may have never experienced the joy of receiving a gift on Christmas.
Without a doubt entire families, and perhaps even communities, will be impacted because people took the time to make a difference by filling up a shoebox containing a small toy, personal hygiene items and basic school supplies along with a copy of the Gospel outlined in the booklet “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Many of these items we take for granted will be the best gift some of these children will ever receive.
Imagine for a moment of how special it will be for one thousand children to open up their very own special gift this Christmas. Imagine how loved each child will feel. Imagine a thousand children learning about the real meaning of Christmas. Imagine how powerful it will be as children discover the love of God in Christ. Perhaps you wanted to give a shoebox to a needy child this year, but didn’t have a chance. It is not too late. You can still make a difference by creating your own shoebox online at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline/.
Every little thing we do in Jesus’ name makes a big difference. I am grateful this Thanksgiving to be among people who are willing to be “difference makers” in the lives of children around the world. A thousand lives impacted, a thousand thanks given and a thousand more who will bless the Lord.
Indeed it is more blessed to give than receive! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!
