The Apostle John put down his writing instrument in the late first century A.D., having just completed the book of Revelation. He died shortly thereafter, the last surviving Apostle. What happened next? What did the Christianity they left behind look like, before the creeds, councils, church buildings and even the canon of Scripture? The course will pick up where John left off, seeking to situate the infant church in it's cultural setting in the Roman Empire. This course will cover church history in the early and medieval eras, up to the threshold of the Reformation, reviewing the life and legacy of influential men and women as well as some of the critical events and literature of this era. Join the Rev. Carl Smith for this Wednesday Night Teaching.
A meal will be offered at 6:15pm ($5 single / $10 family) for those who would like to come earlier and child care for infants and toddlers will be offered upon request; those desiring to take advantage of the meal will need to sign up in advance weekly.
