As we are being called to live into the God-given Vision of The Church of the Cross, we are more and more aware of the effects of working independently verses interdependently as God would have us do. That starts at the foundation.
We have been extremely blessed with creative, dedicated and gifted leaders and staff and have been seeking a way to harness that energy in a way that allows up to walk forward together. That answer has come to us in the form of team focus. When working within the ‘push’ and ‘pull’ of a team dynamic that energy is not only multiplied but also intensified and can be readily used to have a Kingdom impact. This is the model our leadership at The Church of the Cross is embracing and praising God for. This is the model that when used for His Glory releases our Leader and Keeper of the Vision to work within his gifts and passions to communicate, coordinate, and celebrate the Vision.
Essentially, we are working as two specific teams with specific roles. One is the Sr. Leadership Team, which will handle the day-to-day decisions needed on a Church level, freeing up Father Owens for preaching, teaching and Vision implementation. And the Support Staff Team, which is charged with supporting all of the ministries of the Church. Without whom nothing happens.
The Sr. Leadership Team is currently comprised of leaders from the building block ministries of our Church which are Worship, Administration, Discipleship, Evangelism (and Outreach), Communications and Lay Ministry.
The Support Staff Team is comprised of the Church staff responsible for administrative support. The two teams are linked by an administrative liaison to ensure team interaction and communication. This is an exciting time to be part of The Church of the Cross and we as the staff are even more excited about what God is calling on us to do in order for His Kingdom to grow. By functioning as a servant leader Father Owens is creating an environment in which its members can lead and make decisions, be held accountable and be released to do ministry. This will allow everyone the Lord has called to work within their giftedness to bring honor and glory to His work.
…so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:5 NIV
