On Sunday, September 7th at 7:00pm, Father Owens will begin teaching Confirmation/Reaffirmation of Faith classes in preparation for the Bishop's annual visitation on October 19, 2008. Classes for adults will be held on Sunday evenings.
Confirmation / Reaffirmation of Faith Classes
The five 90-minute sessions are entitled:
September 7 Christianity 101
September 14 Anglican Church History
September 21 The Sacraments
October 5 The Body of Christ in this Parish
October 12 The Body of Christ in this Parish
Baptized adults who have joined The Church of the Cross and who have not taken Father Owens’ course should plan to attend, regardless of their prior religious affiliation. Adults who were confirmed years ago are encouraged to attend for a refresher to reaffirm their faith.
Because some participants may have to miss a session, the adult classes will be recorded and CDs will be available to eliminate any informational gaps. Childcare will be provided for infants and toddlers on Sunday evenings.
Also, from September 7th to October 12th, Youth Confirmation Classes will be taught on Sundays from 5:00pm - 6:30pm. Only young people in grade six or above who have been baptized and who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior should attend. Youth MUST attend all six sessions in order to be confirmed and also be present for the Bishop’s confirmation service on October 19th.
The 2008 services of Confirmation and Reaffirmation of Faith will be held on the Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost, October 19th, with the Right Reverend Mark J. Lawrence celebrating at 8:00am and 10:00am on the Calhoun Street Campus – participants may choose the service they prefer.
